Symposium on Low-Carbon Transportation Planning in Xiong'an New Area
On Oct 27, 2018, Xiong'an Group held a low-carbon transportation symposium in Xiong'an New Area, aiming to discuss the development of transportation in the New Area. International public transport expert Paul S. Custodio, World Resources Institute China Transport Program Director LIU Daizong and leading officials from Xiong'an Group Co. and Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center attended the BBS meeting. The meeting mainly discussed the transportation planning, transportation carbon emission, public transportation development and other related issues of the New Area, so as to provide a basis for the development of Xiong'an New Area.
The 2018 World Metropolitan Transport Development Forum
The World Metropolitan Transport Development Forum (WMTDF), hosted by Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, organized by Beijing Transport Institute and supported by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and many other organizations, was held in the China National Convention Center in Beijing from October 24th to 26th, 2018. Centering on "Green, Intelligent, and Shared Transport in New Era: Innovation and Governance", the Forum invited famous transport experts, scholars and representatives of transport organizations from New York, London, Seoul, Madrid, Tokyo and other metropolises around the world. Focusing on transport-related problems faced by metropolises worldwide, the participants discussed hot transport issues while taking into account of development needs in the new era, shared experience and latest outcomes of urban transport management, looked into future development trend and contributed recommendations for transport development in metropolises to jointly tackle transport challenges brought by urban development.
Training Workshop on Low-Carbon Transport Development in Guiyang
On September 20,2018, supported by the Children's Investment Fund Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation, the World Resources Institute (WRI) hosted a training workshop on low-carbon transport development in Guiyang, aiming at helping local government in Guiyang improve the capacity of drafting low- carbon transport policies and supporting sustainable and low-carbon transport development in the city.Over ten technicians from Guiyang Transport Research Center affiliated to Guiyang Municipal Transportation Commission and Guiyang Traffic Information and Emergency Response Center under the Transportation Department of Guizhou Province attended the training workshop.
Urban Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Traffic Emission Reduction Training
From April 11 to 13, 2018, with the support of the Children's Investment Fund Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation, the C40 Urban Climate Leadership Alliance and the World Resources Institute (WRI) jointly conducted a training on urban greenhouse gas accounting and traffic emission reduction in Beijing. The purpose is to help cities understand the requirements of the International Standard for Urban Greenhouse Gas Accounting (GPC), provide technical support for peak path research at the urban level, especially in the transportation field, and discuss the formulation of energy-saving and emission reduction policies from the perspective of cost-effectiveness.
